Slinter Mining Company Limited is a family-owned limestone quarrying and mineral extraction business based in Cromford, near Matlock in Derbyshire. Founded in 1946, they've spent nearly eight decades extracting, processing, and supplying limestone aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and associated materials to the construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure sectors across the Midlands and beyond.
Operating from Slinter Top Quarry in Cromford, they supply everything from Type 1 sub-base and 6F5 to screened topsoil and ready-mixed concrete — servicing major infrastructure projects, road construction, and commercial developments. They approached SIPTA to produce a pair of project showcase films documenting their work on two separate projects in the Buxton area, demonstrating the scale and quality of their operations to prospective clients.
THE BRIEF
Making groundworks compelling on screen
Project showcase videos for civil engineering and quarrying work face a common problem — the work itself is genuinely impressive in scale and complexity, but it's difficult to communicate that from ground level. From a standard camera position, a large excavation looks like a hole in the ground. A completed road base looks like gravel. The challenge was producing videos that accurately represented the scale and skill of Slinter's operations in a way that would be genuinely engaging for a potential client watching on a laptop or phone.
Quarry and construction sites also present practical filming challenges — active machinery, restricted zones, changing conditions, and the need to capture work that's happening continuously rather than being staged for camera.
